Lou Ann's Sweet Potato Casserole
This is my favorite versions of this Thanksgiving classic. Whether you cooked your own sweet potatoes or start with canned, this recipe goes together easy.

- 3 cups mashed sweet potatoes
- 1 stick butter
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup milk
Topping
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1 cup chopped nuts (I use oatmeal)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 9 dish or a casserole dish.
Beat together the mashed sweet potatoes, butter, vanilla, and milk. Pour into baking dish.
Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and add topping.
Topping
Mix together the brown sugar, flour and oatmeal (or nuts if you prefer). Cut in the chilled butter until butter is pea sized.
Sprinkle topping over the sweet potato mixture and bake fan additional 15 minutes or until cooked through and topping is golden brown.
