Biscuits and Gravy
Okay. This is not the healthiest recipe but every now and then you have to wow your guests with a hearty breakfast. This is it. I have made homemade biscuits but I find that you can buy frozen biscuits to warm that are easy and yummy so I suggest you purchase those and make this gravy for a supper easy hot breakfast.
Prep Time5 minutes mins
Cook Time10 minutes mins
Servings: 6 servings
- 1 pound ground pork breakfast sausage
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/3 cup flour
- 3 cups milk
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Seasoned Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Brown the sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat until no longer pink.
Add the butter to the pan and stir it around till melted.
Sprinkle the flour and the seasonings over the sausage and stir. Continue to cook for a couple minutes. This stage is crucial as it allows the flour to break down and brown giving good flavor.
Pour the milk into the sausage and flour mixture slowly, whisking as you go.
As the gravy thickens, taste and add more seasonings if needed. Sometimes I find that a little more milk is needed. I don't like my gravy overly thick.
Serve immediately with your favorite biscuits.
