Biscuits and Gravy

Okay. This is not the healthiest recipe but every now and then you have to wow your guests with a hearty breakfast. This is it. I have made homemade biscuits but I find that you can buy frozen biscuits to warm that are easy and yummy so I suggest you purchase those and make this gravy for a supper easy hot breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork breakfast sausage
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Seasoned Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Brown the sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat until no longer pink.
  • Add the butter to the pan and stir it around till melted.
  • Sprinkle the flour and the seasonings over the sausage and stir. Continue to cook for a couple minutes. This stage is crucial as it allows the flour to break down and brown giving good flavor.
  • Pour the milk into the sausage and flour mixture slowly, whisking as you go.
  • As the gravy thickens, taste and add more seasonings if needed. Sometimes I find that a little more milk is needed. I don't like my gravy overly thick.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite biscuits.
