Lenz Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp

Why don't I make this delicious and simple desert more often? Too easy!

Servings: 8 servings

Equipment

  • 8 x 8 inch square baking dish

Ingredients

  • 6 apples (I prefer Granny Smith)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1 scant cup flour
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Wash, peel, core and slice all apples into a large bowl.
  • Toss with lemon juice, flour, sugar, and cinnamon. Place apple mixture in baking dish.

Crumb Topping

  • Mix the 1 cup flour, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Combine well. Using a fork, cut the softened butter into the flour mixture until mixture is pea shaped.
  • Spread over the apple mixture and bake 25 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apple mixture is bubbling.
  • Let cool slightly before serving with vanilla ice cream.
